You climb your mountain and miss a step, but catch yourself.
You drive your car in the rain and slide a bit, but you get back on track immediately.
You face your scars and remember that you are a beautiful product of your life experiences.
Overcoming means to:
Move beyond, gain control, or defeat something. This definition can be different for each person and in every situation. The key is to understand what it means to you.
A person can talk to you for hours about overcoming and not truly understand what it means to you.
The real definition is inside of yourself.
Maybe overcoming means taking back your power.
Maybe overcoming means getting out of a bad relationship for yourself and your family.
Maybe overcoming means that you learn to clearly see how the universe is working in your favor.
Maybe overcoming means that you step out of your comfort zone and into the realm that you are supposed to be in.
Maybe overcoming means getting control of the chaos in your life.
-Whatever it means to you, it is up to you to look deeper into what it would mean to make that change, overcome that battle, or climb that new hill.
Understanding what it means to overcome is how you can prepare to do it.
You find meaning and value in life and your journey by taking the time to truly look inside of yourself and allow change and evolution to occur.
Challenge yourself to take a moment and write down what is truly bothering you. This is the beginning of facing what is bringing problems to your life.
Job 8:7
“…Though your beginning was small, your latter will be great.” You may not be where you dream of being, but it is surely coming- it has been promised to you. The universe is in full-creation mode and is bringing opportunities your way that you did not know existed. God has a blessing and vision for your life.
Proverbs 2:12-15
“Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.” Taking the time to do the work, writing it all down, facing the problem and understanding what it means to overcome your storm is the first step in developing a new area of wisdom. This wisdom could be the key to your success or in finding true happiness within yourself. What would it mean to defeat the storm in your life?
Are you able to open the doors of promise and opportunity now? Do you still have some preparation to do? If you aren’t ready, that is okay for now…but you need to get ready. You need to stop just dealing with it and start preparing to change.
Now that you understand the basic meaning of overcoming, you are ready to learn to make it happen. Buckle up, it may be a bumpy ride.
Be blessed and be at peace.

Chickenpox can cause extreme problems for people of all ages. The virus that it is linked to it, VZV, can spread via touching, breathing in particles, and possibly through droplets. Getting the vaccine is the best protection; you can still get chickenpox but the severity will be decreased, you will have fewer blisters and less of a fever. It is essential that you do your part to take care of yourself and your family. Calamine and colloidal oatmeal baths are a go-to to relieve itching, and acetaminophen over-the-counter may help reduce fever as well. Although there has been a decline in the number of people with a VZV virus over the past two decades, it is still affecting over 3 million people a year according to the CDC. Seek the care of a physician or any medical provider; there is affordable care available.

Cope, Hide, Overcome, Run or Escape? (C.H.O.R.E.)
©KayLaN.Allen
So, you’ve had a bad day…
Your kids are driving you mad…
You’re feeling stuck…
You can’t answer the “what if” question….
Life is sending you on the roller coaster of your life…
No matter what storm you go through, you have options to choose from.
Each one will get you an end.
Each one will have a consequence.
Each one can take you out of your situation.
Which do you choose?
Will you cope, hide, overcome, run, or escape?
If the answer doesn’t come to you immediately, then you have some work and thinking to do.
No more crying, no more pity party, no more hiding.
Burdens that arise in our lives stress our minds, bodies, and spirits…look at the power that we can give those things. (Scary…)
In the midst of a breakdown in anything from your finances to your spirit, you must make the choice to cope with what happened, run, escape, and overcome…hiding and sitting on your butt whining and complaining will only give you more of the same. No matter the choice you make, be sure that you are prepared to live with the outcome.
You need to shape your mind, evolve your thinking, and make a decision sooner than later…because little do you know you are affecting everyone around you while you live in that storm. You are causing pain and destruction to yourself and your future; you deserve clarity, peace, and happiness…so choose wisely.
Though the pressure may seem high, you have to do your C.H.O.R.E. If you need support or somewhere to turn, I promise it is much closer than you think. You have friends, love, and family (even those who aren’t related) that care about you…I PROMISE. I care 100% and I am here for you.
You must be willing to do the work. Are you ready?
Getting beyond your circumstances will start in the mind. You have to step out of your element to see beyond the fire in your eyes or the flame circling your situation.
John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” God can deliver you from your circumstances if and only if you believe, and if you put in the REQUIRED effort. Things will not change on their own nor will they magically disappear. You can have the peace that you desire, but it may take time.
Please, know that you are not the only one dealing with a tough time; also know that you can are the master of your life. It is okay to choose to cope with your situation if it the best thing for you and/or your family; you have to step back and answer the question on your own, no one else can make that decision for you. Be wise, think, and weigh your option; comb through your situations with a fine tooth comb.
1 Peter 3:9-11
“Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. For, Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.”
I know that you may have a deep hurt inside of yourself because of something that someone else said or did, and yes you should stand up for yourself. Remember this though, you need to do what you can to mend the situation; in every other area simply be kind- no matter how difficult that may be.
To briefly cover a powerful conversation that included the Dalai Lama- He said that if you are living with anger/negativity inside of yourself that is selfishness; you must realize that what you are seeing is simply that and nothing more- it is not really what is happening. You have to be able to look deeper at your situation and inside of yourself to make changes and evolve from your current position.
It is time to take drastic measures. Shape it up and shake it off; push for change and try your best not to question your decision after it has been made.
Though challenges may present themselves, you must make a healthy choice. The words you speak, the choices you make, and the space that you reside in affect your life in every way.
Be blessed and be at peace.

Z-Zest
©KayLaN.Allen
If you combine your passion, your appetite for success, spirit, and fire inside of you and that is your zest.
What puts that light in your eyes? What fuels your flame? What drives your energy? What makes your heart happy? What seemingly makes your forget/overcome your struggles in you life?
Be Zesty (“lively and pleasing”).
Let’s say that there are 1000 other people going for the same job that you are going for…would you walk into your interview knowing that you are just another applicant? No, don’t do that. Sparkle, glisten, and show your passion because that will make you stand out.
God gave you gifts and talents; He gave you something that no one else has. He gave you a zest for what you are passionate about. Dark days and those who are against you do not matter.
Be active and energetic every day, no matter what happens and you’ll realize that you have so much to be thankful for. For those who choose to sit in sorrow, they will feel that everything is going wrong and nothing will ever change. If you encounter that person, let them know that two things that are guaranteed are the passing of time and change.
As much as we would like to control every part of our days, it is not always that easy. We do have the option to be full of zest and we do have the option to change the outcome of our days.
If you are feeling sad or discouraged, know that your zest in life is still connected to your heart and mind. The universe is constantly at work for you; be happy in every moment, as best as you possibly can- it is worth it. God knows and sees your dreams and He is shaping your path, be full of zest and be prepared for all of the good that is coming your way.
You see, as we challenge what seems likely to break us down we reveal zest for whatever our heart desires. If you are feeling stuck in a box because of your finances and you want to make a change, but that change requires finances, you need to change your thinking and take every step with a breath of zest.
There is not always going to be a door open for you, sometimes you have to build your own door and push it open.
A painting of clouds could seem dreary and boring, but if you add flowers, sunshine, and children playing you reveal happiness and zest…the same can be applied to your life.
Be enthusiastic and full of zest in all that you do and dream of. Your drive, compassion, vigor, and light inside of you are all that you need to succeed.
Mark 9:50
“Salt is a good thing; but if it has lost its zest, how can it be seasoned again? You should have salt within yourselves and peace with one another.” Be fervent in your beliefs, never lose sight of your dreams, and be filled with a zest for life. Work diligently to find peace within yourself and gain a high-spirit in life. Seek peace with others, one moment in anger is a moment that could be spent in resolution, clarity, and happiness; fix it, for you and those you love.
Romans 5:5
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” You must allow yourself to be filled with hope and joy in order to ready to receive all that has been promised to you by God. The universe reacts to what you are putting out in feeling and thought, so you need to live as though you have already manifested what you want in your life.
Have a complete zest for life and you will change the way that the see the world, and the way that things turn out.

Zoonotic Diseases: These infections link humans and animals. Although people come in close contact with their pets on a regular basis, there are germs/bacteria that can be carried by animals. Approximately 6 out of 10 infectious diseases are spread via animals. Thousands of people, annually, will get sick because of germs spread between humans and animals (CDC). Germs can be spread from direct contact, indirect contact, via an insect, or from contaminated food. Children under 5, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of a zoonotic disease. Prevention tips include: proper hand washing, staying safe around pets, prevent mosquito, tick and flea bites, safe food handling, and avoiding scratches or bites from animals. Depending on the type of disease, the incubation period can vary from hours to weeks and the symptoms vary, as well. Use your medical support system, they care and so do I.

U-Uproot
©KayLaN.Allen
Uproot- to remove or pull up by the roots
I often tell people that they need to get unstuck from their situation and to not become “stuck on stupid”…let’s address what they means and how you can do it, as well.
Often we see ourselves or people we love get “stuck” in a relationship, “stuck” at a job we may not like, “stuck” living in a place that is not ideal, etc. What I want you to ask yourself is are you/they really stuck? The answer is no.
Everyday we make a choice to do things, stay in a relationship, stay at a job, keep living in a certain place, etc. It is your decision to be in the situation that you are in. You have the opportunity to get out of your “dry place”.
UPROOT YOURSELF!
No one will walk around carrying a basket of happiness, promises, and money…you must chose to get out, remove yourself, better yourself and make a change. No it will not be easy.
If you have ever been abused in any form, you know that it can seem impossible to leave, but it can be done. Talk to someone who can understand and will not judge you. Gain your strength and uproot your heart from one of the highest levels of mental and physical toxicity. Uproot your mind from pain, torture, destruction, confusion, and misery; you deserve better than what you are facing every day and you know it.
If you have ever stayed at a job just because you need a paycheck and to pay your bills, you know how miserable every day can be. Use your “extra” time or make “extra” time and re-shape your life to build a life and career that you love and are proud of. No, it will not happen overnight. No, there will not always be someone that can help you financially, watch your kids, or calm you down when those night/weekend/3 week courses seem to make you feel overwhelmed…but it can be done. If you know that you deserve more out of a job (like, a career that you love), then do what it takes to make it happen. God and the universe will make a way if only you put in the effort and speak out loud that you need help; express what you want, what you need, and what you are doing to make it happen. Live in that feeling of completion and gained success; if you feel it, envision it, and belief it…so it will be. Uproot yourself from that job that is subjecting you to discrimination, low pay, no opportunities to advance, etc. If you want success, go get it!
If you find yourself still living in the same place/area that you came from and you are happy about that, that is okay only if it is an area that you have found success, abundance and prosperity in (for yourself). If it is not all that you have ever wanted, then what are you doing to yourself and your family? Are you really proud of yourself for not rising up and evolving? You need to give yourself a reality check, if you are. You are blessed beyond measure and have new opportunities granted to you every morning. If you are satisfied with mediocrity and not evolving then you are denying your chance at success, an abundant life, and happiness in seeing yourself reach all of your goals. Shake those small thoughts off and start thinking bigger.
If you are someone who is confused or you think that you may need to be uprooted, please know that someone who really cares about you will tell you the truth even when you do not want to hear it. I would much rather serve you a freezing bowl of the cold hard truth that watch you cry buckets of tears or live in years of disappointment or misery.
Proverbs 4: 23
“Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.”
If you think that you have reached as high as you can in your life, you will receive nothing more. If you change your thinking and uproot yourself from what confines/binds you, you will attain more.
The thoughts and words that you think or say are put out into the universe…so be careful.
God did not promise you a life of pain. Here’s a few things that He did promise:
Nothing will separate you from God’s love. Psalms 8:38-39
He made you intentionally and knows you intimately. Psalms 139-13-14
He has plans of prosperity and hope attached to your life. Jeremiah 29:11
You are favored. Psalms 5:12
You can do ALL things. Philipians 4:13
Come out of your dry place… stand on God’s promises and all that the universe can provide to you by uprooting your mind from it’s current state.
Be blessed and be at peace.

R-Radiate
© KayLaN.Allen
Many children sang this song and as adults we’ve forgotten what it means…try it now:
“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…” What does it mean?
It’s time to turn your brightness up to the max and radiate in all of your light.
Look up to sky as the sun rises… what do you see? You see light, now say: “That light is in me.” You’ve not told yourself a lie, but a blessed truth.
There are times when you go through rough patches, but it’s ok… still you must shine on.
Allow yourself to radiate in the midst of darkness/storms and watch how you can cause a mental shift for yourself and those around you.
Don’t sit and complain if your day isn’t going your way. Get up and make a change. Your light inside is glowing and beautiful; let it radiate so that the world can be blessed.
If you feel as though the world is passing you by and you can’t see your light radiating, it may be time to lace up your running shoes, go outside and get a change of scenery. There are times when we get that feeling that no one can see what we have to offer or no matter what our best isn’t good enough… but that’s not true. Think about it like this: wouldn’t it be better to have a light as small as that of a firefly that to live in a world of darkness.
Even if your light does not radiate immediately, your growth and your life molding will brighten that light over time.
Isaiah 58:8-12
healing will quickly appear;
glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
for help, and he will say: Here am I.
pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of
the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in
the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.
whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will
raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer
of Streets with Dwellings.”
Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Even if you are not a believer in God, you must learn and know that when you radiate you create a shift in the world. Allow yourself to radiate from the center of your universe, your chakras, your mind, your heart, however you see it.
Your gifts and talents are not too small or unimportant.
Your ideas are not too big or far-fetched.
When people turn against you, let your light radiate.
When you feel down, let your light radiate.
When people around you are blossoming and growing, don’t hate…applaud, then let your light radiate.
When people misjudge you or make you feel small, let your light radiate.
If your light is dim, fuel the fire. If you think your light isn’t working, change the bulb. Train your mind and re-shape your world. Radiate.
Say it out loud: My light is unlike anyone else’s and my gifts make the world a better place.
Life is short. Stand strong in who you are. Be the best you that you can be, as every moment counts. Let your light shine, ‘lest you aim to stand in someone else’s shadow for your entire life.

N-Nurturing
What does nurturing mean to you? Where do you find yourself nurturing anyone/anything?
Is it in your garden? Is it with your children? Is it with your spouse/significant other?
Are you nurturing yourself? When was the last time that you took inventory on your own life? When was the last time you did something for yourself?
If you are not taking care of yourself, you should take the time to do that (something special, even if that means buying yourself a ice cream cone) at least once a week. Your heart, mind, and soul deserve all of the love you can give to anyone else and then some. Challenge yourself to make your personal (mental and physical health) garden grow. If you are running around in the chaos of life, I know that it can be difficult to truly tune into yourself…but you must do it.
The phrase “take care” is part mental and part physical. If you are unable to care for yourself, how can you care for anyone else or perform well in school or work? If you are unable to take care of yourself on a regular basis, how can you offer 100% in anything that you do? You can’t because it will not be available to give. You must make changes internally and nurture yourself.
Nurturing yourself can come in many forms: change in health, meditating, change in daily behavior, change in habitual choices, change in diet, addressing medical prevention, going back to school, gaining a type of certification, getting regular manicures, going to the spa regularly, etc.
Phillipians 2:4
“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
You are supposed to care for yourself and others, if you wish you to have and lead a life full of purpose and beautiful meaning. Challenge yourself to be your own full-time nurturer and watch how the right people will walk into your life.
Romans 12:2
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Sure, life is tough and growing in wisdom is just as tough, but you can do it. You are put to the test everyday, and you have the choice to make a change or stay the same. By changing your mindset, you can better nurture yourself and all around you. Know the you will receive what you put out into the world. God will bless you and the universe will reciprocate and further provide great things if you are doing great things with humility and compassion.
Nurture yourself today and always, and watch how beautifully your mental and physical garden will grow.
Nurturing yourself via your health will further your life. Take care of yourself, someone needs you.
3 John 1:2
“Beloved, I pray that in every way you may prosper and enjoy good health, as your soul also prospers.”
Be blessed and be at peace.

E-Evolution (Of Yourself & Your Life)
Self-evolution starts with self- reflection.
Often, it is only right that you think about a
new and better you.
Close your eyes and no don’t make a wish…
I’m going to take you on a journey through your own mind.
It is time to completely let go of your painful/difficult past and visualize and manifest your destiny.
Now visualize in depth, in color, inside your mind your accomplishments,
greatest “failures”, and hopes left unattended.
What do you see? Smiles, tears, bruises? The common factor is you.
The next thing to do is allow yourself to rejoice in your accomplishments and
achievements and forgive yourself for your perceived failures or pain that lies in your
past.
If you don’t face yourself and face your crap/personal issues you cannot evolve. No exceptions.
Pray about what you want and be thankful for what God has given you.
The next step
in this visualization is to bring to life all that you want in your life. You
need to see yourself accomplishing that next goal. You need to see yourself
graduating and getting that degree. You need to see yourself opening up your
checking account or your savings account and seeing those millions of dollars
sitting there.
You need to not only envision your life and everything that you
want in it but you need to feel how you would feel in those moments.
So let’s
say that you are opening up that account and you see those millions of dollars, you need to feel it right now -You open the account and you’re happy, you’re
excited, you’re proud of yourself.
If you live in your purpose and allow
yourself to evolve, empowering yourself along the way, nothing can stop you.
Have you spoken negatively about someone’s dream? Remember when you maybe said something to someone that may not have been kind? In those moments, all you did was push your blessing
further away.
Bless everyone around you. If you’re the smartest and most successful in your
group, you need a new group.
God is not going to bless your ugliness, laziness,
or character flaws that you are unwilling to change.
You have every tool possible to change your life, your
integrity, your knowledge, your approaches to communication, your diligence and
everything in between.
It’s time to change your entire life.
Lose that weight, get that degree, EVOLVE!!! Faith without works is dead,
people.
Challenge yourself, push through, get certifications, do whatever it takes to
up your game!
Everything that you are/are not doing is affecting your present and the next decade.
What are you waiting for?
Need a push? Go to the Bible! Refer to that which you know about the universe, growth, cosmic awareness and personal development.
1 Corinthians 13:11
“When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason
like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.” It is the time grow and do away with things of your past being. You can’t move forward if you are constantly looking back.
Don’t you know better than to settle for mediocre?
Don’t you know better than to just sit on your butt waiting for something to
happen?
Don’t you know better than to speak ugly or negatively to or about people?
Do you deserve more than what you’ve received?
Do you believe that the universe or God’s love is never-ceasing and that you
can do ALL things through Jesus Christ?
If you do… what’s stopping you besides you? Nothing.
properly and cut out baggage, eliminate all negativity, love yourself better.
have the tools… NOW OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!
I
pray that your life is full of love, happiness, success, and perfect health.
Pray for me, as I always pray for you.
Be blessed and be at peace.

Chagas Disease (also know as American trypanosomiasis): This neglected parasitic infection disease is caused by a parasite Trypanosoma cruzi and is transmitted to animals and people via the triatomine bug (sometimes known as the kissing bug). It is more common in Mexico, Central America, South America, and rural Latin America, in areas of widespread poverty (CDC). Chagas is an endemic in these areas, as people are at greatest risk there. More than 300,000 people with T. cruzi live in the US and acquired the infection in other countries. Infection can be from mom-child, from contaminated blood transfusions, organ transplant, lab accident, or contaminated food and/or drinks. It can last up to a few months; there can be swelling, changes in heart rhythm difficulties swallowing, and bowel issues, Blood work will lead to diagnosis by observing the parasite under a microscope; other testing can be performed (CDC). People with weakened/suppressed immune systems need to be seek a physician immediately; there is treatment via medication is available (WHO). Prevention methods include being mindful of where you sleep, using bed nets, using insecticides, doing home improvement, and practicing good hygiene and cleanliness. Seek the help of a physician or caregiver as soon as possible. Take good care of yourself and your families.
The Truth of the Past: Written Version of Facing the Pain of 2010-2016
We walk around with cordial smiles and the phrase “I’m fine” anytime anyone asks how we are doing.
Do they really want to know how we are doing?
We mask our tears with happy pictures on social media.
Look into my eyes in these pictures, am I really happy?
We crave attention and love, but settle for mediocrity and our partners fake love.
People say they want something real, long lasting, and true and yet fall for the simplest words of kindness.
Women over and over again “let” their partners take over their minds, and lose track of themselves.
Many aim to be great achievers and believe they are queens/kings and yet they cater to jokers.
My bruised heart and scarred body tells the story of truth and perseverance.
I have been the previously mentioned people and played all of the roles, but the time to face my truth of who I am is knocking on my door.
I dream to become this highly educated, well-rounded, and accomplished genetic engineer, but my nightmares haunt my dedicated and ambitious reality; maybe I am chasing the wrong dream.
I am always fighting for the truth and always running to someone else’s rescue.
I cry so often that I can no longer feel the pain in my heart, it just gets erased as I cater to the feelings of someone else.
The torment it brings is unreal, but over and over again I let it slide; I cry myself to sleep then let it go.
The pain and sadness is swarming all around me, but who besides God will be there to help me heal?
When the narcissism starts up as it always does, will I be able to fake it again?
Torn apart like shreds of paper, my heart still beats and longs for true love, but how much pain will I have to endure to get through the hardship and truly acknowledge my worth?
It’s time to make some changes.
