I may not look like you or have the same vernacular, but I
would love to share a story with you.
Sit on the couch with me, share a meal with my family, and
let’s learn about one another;
There are countless lessons that we can lovingly teach
other.
For every story that is told, there is a connected heart and
a loving soul;
Listen to mine, and I’ll listen to yours, who knows – a united
mission may soon be on the roll.
Caring about each other is a message of love from the heart;
We need and crave love as soon as our lives get their start.
Lend me your hand and I’ll lend you my shoulder;
Then we will realize that the message of love and unity will
never grow older.
Filled with peace and love was the flower child of years
gone by;
Let us re-fill the cup of the world with smiles, understanding,
awareness, and an enlightened sky.
We are the makers of dreams and empowered love –
So, let’s create a new story of transformation and unity
that our families will be proud of.


Y -Yield to Positivity

Isn’t it interesting how we can get so bogged down with life at times, that we share our difficult moments with others and yet learn how misery really does love company? It is a gift to be able to share life with friends but rarely do people share the good things in life and push each other to be better; this is because sharing the storms in life can be much easier than spreading positivity.


What if when we experienced difficulties, we were able to share the positive possibilities and be surrounded by rays of light in people who align with the vision that we have for ourselves? That would be a much better world to live in, wouldn’t it?


Allowing the weight of our despair to take over our minds and hearts hurts a lot more when we are unable to yield to a remnant of positivity. The strength that we can create in our minds starts with working diligently to find a bit of light when the storms roll in.


Going through a struggle may be an easier ride, but it would be much more beneficial to gift yourself with a bumpy ride that arrives at positivity from time-to-time. When we can take the time to consistently feed our despair a switch of the mind and shift ourselves into positivity gear, we find that life if is a little easier if and when can alter our views. Give yourself the gift of yielding to positivity and know that you do not have to linger in difficult days.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9
You are a vessel carrying what you need to reach your destiny, so why not fill that vessel with positivity whenever possible. If you ever feel like you cannot reach that source of positivity look up and inside of yourself. Don’t block out the light, you never know when you may need it.
James 1:2-4
You have the power to find your joy no matter what you face. Surely it takes effort to be steadfast, but the reward is great. Keep strong to your faith and no that from every trial there is a lesson to be learned. Be overjoyed that you can still see the light and feel some sense of peace when you can yield to positivity and cast your worries aside.

Q – Query or Lesson

There are times that arise when a situation stumps us and we do not know what to do to overcome it.  This is surely a time of great reflection, meditation, prayer, and necessary visualization. On another end of the spectrum, it is equally a time to decide the situation means to you (at your core).

One situation that I have encountered is in dealing with difficulties within the school setting and not having adequate support that I think I need in order to perform well. Yes, in difficult moments, we can get angry, fuss, cuss, and yell…but is that enough to give us the answers and the vision that we need to take what happened and turn it into something fruitful?

When the road gets rough, the thing to consider is whether what is happening is a time for a query or a needed lesson.

Even when we think that we are wise and intellectual, there is yet still something to be learned. These queries may stimulate our growth and the lessons that you may need to let could set you apart from others at every level. When reached for what you can learn from queries or lessons will change your life in the way that you allow them to.

Think clearly. Be patient with yourself. Take the time to understand beyond the surface what you need to learn, especially when you are facing trials in your life.

There are countless lessons to be learned in life, but it is important to remember the value that they hold and that in your journey toward seeking sound knowledge God is present. No one walks this road alone, so do not be afraid to ask questions or learn the lesson that you need to learn. 



Overcoming “Hidden” Emotions

There are times when we find ourselves silenced, be it because of someone or something. It can be a challenge finding your voice, your place, and your position, however it must be done.



Silence is not always “golden”, in fact it can be the deepest shade of black imaginable. It can take you to an unhealthy place, if it takes over your mind. 



Silence can literally shut down your vision.

It can shut down your mind.
It can shut down your power.


The most important thing to do is to realize that everything that you have to say has a meaning.



Do not let anyone tell you that what you have to say does not matter. When you do this you allow them to take away your happiness and power.



Your emotions have this power at multiple levels and they are very important.



How you feel impacts your life. It can be difficult to let these emotions come out when you have learned/taught yourself to hide them. You must find a way to reclaim your life and your emotions.



Sweeping your emotions under the rug or being forced to shove them into a closet is completely unhealthy. A can of soda once shaken will only explode after opened. 



To overcome “hidden” emotions, you have to look inside of yourself and understand what they mean. You need to get to the root of your emotions and analyze why you have hidden them. 



You deserve to express your emotions and you have a right to feel the way that you do. The way that you express them matters, as well. Pay attention to your delivery when expressing them and be mindful of your words.



Heal those emotions by first understanding, then analyzing them, expressing them in a healthy way, and evolving the way that you think and value yourself.



You matter. You are enough. Your thoughts and emotions are important.



Proverbs 15:33 

“A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is crushed.” I am not saying that everyday and everything should be all sunshine, however I am saying it is much healthier and much more productive to be happier and feeling that your emotions, views, and your voice matters. God/Higher Beings/The Universe dwell within you, when things become altered or overshadowed it affects every other part of your life. Clearing away the fog changes everything.


2 Timothy 1:7

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” Your emotions are yours, you should not feel shunned, shut-out, or constrained because of someone else or something. You are a strong person with brilliant ideas, intimate emotions, and unique gifts and talents; learning what they mean, how to handle them and their importance are some of the best gifts that you can ever give yourself.


Know your value and your worth, this is key is overcoming these emotions that you have hidden. Let the light shine in and allow yourself to speak again…it will change your life.

***Health Spotlight***

Cholera- Although this is not a prevalent disease in the U.S.,  it is important to think about it as travelers to areas with a cholera epidemic may contract it. This disease still occurs in many places such as Haiti and Southeast Asia. This disease can be prevented and treated.  It is a diarrheal illness and other symptoms may or may not be present, but they can be severe. Approximately 10% of people are infected with Cholera (CDC). Diagnosis is reached via a stool sample. An oral rehydration solution may be the treatment route for Cholera; some require an IV for fluid replacement. Prevention: access to clean water, sanitation, and basic hygiene needs. Be mindful and take good care of yourself. Seek a physician or trusted provider whenever you need to or feel that something isn’t right.

Emotion Shifting-Part 1

Do you ever feel like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed and the rest of your day just doesn’t go right?
If you change your thought process in that first moment of anger, anxiety, or pure frustration, everything else will change too.
Take responsibility for your feelings, your life, and all of your actions. 

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

You’re human, not perfection… but you can create changes that shape your life and help you to become a better person.
