Dear Mixed Girl
The feeling of being put into a box when it comes to how you identify yourself is a horrible emotion.
On the same hand it is frustrating when people tell you to just choose one race/ethnicity.
The effort to push someone to prove who they are is despicable, but if you think about it in another light, it is a chance for you to shine all of [your] glory.
Side note: if you tell people that you are mixed with brujeria, you are my people. Lol!!
You do not have to choose one or prove yourself.
Every curl on your head, area of poof, or the beautify of your skin is yours.

Dear Mixed Girl
Did you know that there is a crown on your head?!
That’s right, you’re royalty!
The beautiful hair on your head is your crown that the world gets to behold.
Recall your natural roots and be true to yourself.
Your hair can be worn in whatever style brings you joy, but remember that no one changes the root of who you are.
Wear your crown proudly – if you let it slip lift your head to the sky and love yourself once more.

Dear Mixed Girl
Dear Mixed Girl,
In a field of flowers, be the blossom that glistens in the sunlight and radiates beauty (inside and out) in the storms.
Be the bouquet of sweet scents in the world through the fabulousness of all that you are.
You can and must choose to stand strong, beautiful inside and be true to who are even when people may make you feel small.
Even if you are not living a beautiful, picture perfect life, you still have a chance to make a wonderful future for yourself.
Notice and always recall how far you have come.
As long as you have a dream in your heart and passion in your soul, you can become all that unique you hopes for.

Dear Mixed Girl
You are more than that “other” box that you have to check from time to time.
You are a multitude of greatness, culture, languages, beauty, intelligence, wonder, and possibilities.
There is no box that [is] large enough or deep enough to confine [you] to one space in time.
Nothing can block any element of who you are – never forget that.
One of the most important things that you must do throughout your life is to give your being and your legacy a deeper definition than the world could ever create.
Always feel free to be yourself; no one can define or bind your life except you.

Dear Mixed Girl
At some point in your life you wished that there was someone you could [see] your reflection in -> someone who looked like you.
You searched the television screen, magazines, musicians, actresses, and everything in between.
From time to time you saw her, as well.
As the years go by, you will realize that the reflection that you and the world really need to see is you.
Your purpose and natural essence will grant you a sense of pride and self-love.
Be that girl the next mixed girl is searching for.
Empower that girl while you empower yourself. Be your own inspiration!

Dear Mixed Girl
When you are surrounded by a crowd of people who may not look like you, I know that it can be uncomfortable.
It can feel as though you stick out like a sore thumb and that may be true!
Do you know what’s amazing about that?
You have the wonderful opportunity to shine through your inner light.
Take that scary, unsettling, uncomfortable feeling and turn it into something wonderful.
It’s okay to stand out!
Make it about more than how you look; make it about the greatness that lives inside of wonderful you.

Dear Mixed Girl
Just because you are different, that doesn’t mean that your voice doesn’t matter.
Don’t ever allow anyone or anything to make you feel that you need to be quiet.
You have a view of the world that many others couldn’t nor will ever experience.
Your voice and experience give you a seat at any table.
Remember to not let anyone make you feel inferior to them.
Don’t silence yourself, even if you are feeling uncomfortable.
In your life, you have a chance to make a difference by being yourself.
Be yourself, speak up and make the world a better place.

Dear Mixed Girl
Not at any point in your life do you have to choose a side.
No matter if people say that you are acting [insert race/ethnicity] or you aren’t [insert race/ethnicity] enough to be [insert race/ethnicity] you still get to be who you are.
You are different and that is wonderful!
Don’t allow anyone to try and shove you into the mold that they see fit. Be open, willing, and happy to be everything that you are.
Why try to be someone or something when you can just be you? I love you in all that you are! I hope you do too!
Remember why all caps [#DEARMIXEDGIRL].
