Dear Mixed Girl

Dear Mixed Girl Letter by Dr. KayLa N. Allen

Dear Mixed Girl,

Do you feel like dysfunction has become the rotten apple in your already “mixed up” life?

A lot of times we see so many problems and dysfunction within our families and social circles, and they can often cause us to feel drained.

That feeling of carrying a heavy load is difficult enough without dysfunction plaguing the world around us.

Enough is enough.

As mixed girls, it is time that we make it our mission to realize that dysfunction does not define us.

The most wonderful things about you must come to the light.

Only then can you find your peace and become everything that your heart desires.

Know that dysfunction does not define you – not now, not ever!

Be yourself and grow in strength so that any dysfunction that is present will become a permanent thing of the past.

No “mixed” experience is the same, but many parts of the biracial/multi-ethnic experience are similar. It is in these similarities that we can find individuals truths and ways in which we can become the best version of ourselves regardless of what the world may show us.
