I am a very positive person in many ways, but I too experience times when the road before me is far too foggy to see clearly.
I am in a transition phase in life, since I have completed my master’s degree (MPH) with a 4.0 GPA just over a week ago.
Although it would be healthy and probably make me happy to still be applauding myself, the need to see the future and what is coming trapped me in my emotions for a few hours this past weekend.
Instead of still being overjoyed about my accomplishments, I have been thinking about the next steps that I will take with school and in building a career. I know that I want a PhD and also want to become a holistic health and wellness (life) coach. So many pieces are linked to my decision and that has been about 80% of what I’ve been thinking about.
As we all know tackling everything at once and trying to rationalize more than one area of concern at one time leads to a dead end, stress, heartache, confusion, disappointment and unnecessary overwhelming feelings.
I kept feeling this sense of doubt after getting accepted into a program (PhD) that seems ideal but comes at a high price. Making a decision at this level is crucial and must be well-thought-out. Knowing that this is the case, I found my mind constantly on the run about options and how to effectively shape my future.
Spinning and spinning in my mind led to eyes full of tears.
The Holy Spirit spoke to me on all of it at just the right time. God gives you a place and space to grow, but it is up to you to put in the effort. You see, all of the battles that you face do not have to be fought alone. God is present and many battles (if not all) belong to Him; He asks that you only show up. If you aren’t willing to fight or at least show up, how can you expect to win? God can give you the victory, and this is what he revealed to me. I kept pushing, keep seeking knowledge, and researching. I still don’t have the final answer, but I know that God has a path set forth just for me that will lead to success and blessing many other people along the way. (Y’all pray for me).
Those doubts, moments of pure confusion, and things that simply seem to overwhelm you at every level will remain as such if you allow them to. Tactics of the devil are real; he will use anything to take your joy and distract you from the glory of the Lord and all that He is doing in your life.
2 Corinthians 10:4 (Living Bible Translation- TLB)
“I use God’s mighty weapons, not those made by men, to knock down the devil’s strongholds.” This is a lesson that anyone can bear to learn for the first time or re-learn after forgetting. Weapons are found in your mind and spirit when it comes to many of life’s battles. What are you arming yourself with? Is your mind to weak to fight? What if you broke away from what you thought was holding you in your pain or confusion and simply put in effort and showed up to the fight?
2 Timothy 2:7 (ESV)
“Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.” You can only be ready to receive an answer if you open your ears, heart, and mind, and soul. You can directly receive messages from the Holy Spirit, I can speak a full testimony on how after receiving many clear messages – we can talk about it if you like.
We are all going to face battles as long as we are on this Earth, what is most important is how we overcome the battle. Choose to be present, allow those feelings to happen but be certain to think clearly through it all.
Through it all be thankful (showing it in whatever you see fit), prayerful, and praise Him.
Be blessed and be at peace.
